Gaining feedback from an interview, especially when you have
been unsuccessful, will prove invaluable when preparing for and attending
interviews in the future.
If you are applying through an agency, as a neutral third party, they should be
able to provide you with good quality feedback. It is also worth gaining
feedback directly and although some companies have strict policies about not
providing feedback to people they have interviewed, others will be much more
accommodating providing you make it clear you will accept what they say in good
spirit.
Although this feedback can sometimes make for uncomfortable listening it will
allow you to consider the way you prepare and behave in future interviews.
Also, by demonstrating your professionalism, if the first choice falls through,
you may be reconsidered for the position or for future positions.
